Open MRI Frequently Asked Questions

MRI represents the state of the art in medical diagnostic imaging. MRI provides detailed internal images of your body without any exposure to ionizing radiation. MRI can allow accurate diagnosis of medical conditions without the need for diagnostic surgical procedures or biopsies.

Strong magnetic fields and radio waves combine to produce signals from hydrogen atoms in the body. These signals are processed into images by the MRI system.

Usually not. Before the exam, clinic staff will ask you a few safety questions.

It’s simple and painless. The patient lies on a scan table which is open on all 4 sides. Friends or family members can accompany you. You can communicate with the technologist at all times.

You can go back to your normal activities right away. The examination is reported by one of our specially trained, MRI certified expert radiologists, and report copies are sent to your doctor.

Routine exams cost $699. For contrast injections or multiple body part exams, please contact us for pricing. We accept Visa, Mastercard, debit, certified cheques or cash. MRI examinations are not covered by the Medical Services Plan of British Columbia.
